With a lot of the conditions in SoCal being loose and rough, we set out to design an in between weight bias setup. Team Associated currently offers two Chassis' for the RC8B4.1. The FWB Chassis is the standard that most brands are using(Mugen, Xray, Sworkz) and the RWB Chassis is the same length, but the center items(Engine, pipe, Radio tray[minus Steering servo], center diff and fuel tank all move back 10mm.

The FWB chassis in our opinion is the most balanced chassis, but can be a little bit of handful in some cases. The RWB Chassis, feels good but, from our testing has been slower with the same driving effort. In order for the RWB chassis to be fast, you have to drive on the edge the whole time which is difficult to maintain over long main events.

So we decided to find the happy medium. We took the existing radio tray and modified it to use the Hump style RX battery in the back near the engine. we also moved the location of the Receiver and transponder to the front of the car. We found that in doing this, the car became a whole new animal. I believe we found the balance between speed and stability.

Improvements seen from testing:

  • Higher consistency, lap after lap while conditions worsened
  • Easy to drive in rough conditons
  • More on power grip exiting the corners
  • Maintained FWB corner speed
  • Less reactive to bumps at high speed

Assembly notes:

  • Radio tray lids use M3x6mm Button head screws (8)
  • On the inside of the Battery box, the farthest rearward mounting screw has a pin hole in the boss. Use the pin hole to mark the chassis with a drill bit or sharp point. this will show you where to drill the hole for the moved M4x12 Flat head screw. Video of assembly will be available at time of shipping.
  • Do not over tighten screws, Tighten until snug then give a quarter turn more.
  • Uses the Hump Style Receiver pack(Standard box uses the stick style pack)

Includes:

  • Radio tray base
  • Battery box lid
  • Receiver box lid
